Vv. Klyubin et Vn. Bungov, A COMPARISON OF RESULTS OBTAINED BY SOLUTION OF THE INVERSE PROBLEM OF CORRELATION SPECTROSCOPY WITH THE USE OF THE CONTIN AND KLUB PACKAGES, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 60(3), 1998, pp. 313-318
A comparison of the data on the particle-size distribution of colloids
measured by dynamic light scattering was performed. The measured corr
elation functions were processed by the CONTIN and KLUB packages. With
both of the packages, the inverse problem is solved using the regular
ization method. The comparison was carried out for colloids with narro
w particle-size distributions and their mixtures. It is shown that, fo
r near-monodisperse colloids, the CONTIN package systematically overes
timates the particle sizes, while the diameter of particles calculated
by the KLUB package is close to that determined by electron microscop
y. Both of the packages satisfactorily reduce particle sizes of indivi
dual fractions from the binary-mixture data, but sometimes solutions o
btained with the CONTIN package involve false components.
