SUPPORTED LIQUID-PHASE CATALYSIS IN SELECTIVE OXIDATION

The application of supported liquid-phase catalysis (SLPC) to selectiv e oxidation examples is discussed to provide valuable alternatives to the purely homogeneous or heterogenous processes. Specific examples di scussed are the Wacker type ethylene oxidation on heterogenous catalys ts and the vinyl acetate production by ethylene acetoxylation. The pot ential industrial application of SLPC for these oxidations and the pos sible extensions of this technology to other oxidation processes are a lso discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
