Ad. Patil et al., A SCREEN FOR INHIBITORS OF DNA RECOMBINATION - IDENTIFICATION OF 2 NEW SPIROSTANOL GLYCOSIDES FROM CHAMAEDOREA-LINEARIS, Journal of natural products, 56(9), 1993, pp. 1451-1458
Two new glycosides have been isolated from the MeOH extract of the ste
m wood and stem bark of an Ecuadorian plant Chamaedorea linearis, and
their structures have been determined by spectroscopic means and X-ray
analysis of the aglycone to be ulfate)]-25R,5alpha-spirostane-1beta,3
beta-diol[1] and -sulfate)]-25R,5alpha-spirostane-1alpha,3beta-diol [2
). These compounds were identified in a screen for inhibitors of recom
binational DNA repair. Cytotoxic activity was also demonstrated.
