Abstract
Five novel tetrafluorinated biphenyl acetylene molecules containing tw o chiral centres in the side chain were synthesized. The mesomorphic b ehaviour of these compounds was characterized by differiential scannin g calorimetry (DSC) and optical polarizing microscopy. All these compo unds exhibit cholesteric and blue phases.
