Abstract
The structure of a new isocoumarin derivative, achlisocoumarin IV [1], isolated from the underground parts of Achlys triphylla was character ized by means of its spectroscopic properties. The chemical constituen ts of Ac. triphylla and Ac. triphylla subsp. japonica were compared by hplc to find their chemotaxonomic similarities and differences. Resul ts showed a chemotaxonomically close relationship.
