P. Schlagheck et A. Buchleitner, CLASSICAL SUPPORT FOR NONDISPERSIVE 2 ELECTRON-WAVE PACKETS IN THE DRIVEN HELIUM ATOM, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 31(11), 1998, pp. 489-495
We present numerical evidence for the existence of a classically non-i
onizing, highly correlated two-electron configuration which emerges fr
om the frozen planet configuration of helium exposed to an electromagn
etic field of linear polarization. A static electric field parallel to
the polarization axis prevents this configuration from transverse ion
ization. We argue that the corresponding nonlinear resonance island in
12D phase space supports nondispersive wave packets of the helium ato
m in combined oscillating and static electric fields.
