SINTERING OF SIO2-TIO2 OBTAINED BY THE SOL-GEL PROCESS FROM CHELATED TI PRECURSORS

Two experimental procedures were used to obtain SiO2-TiO2. In one case , the Si precursor was prehydrolyzed before reacting with Ti to equali ze the chemical reactivity of both reagents. In the other case, H2O wa s produced in situ to avoid precipitation of TiO2. Two chelating agent s were also used separately to control the polymerization process. It was found that the type of chelating agent leads to differences in the particle size.
