Synthesis and characterization of A(2)CaCuO(5) (A = Nd, Sm) system is
reported. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the compounds c
rystallizes in an orthorhombic crystal systems and the unit cell param
eters are found to be a = 6.399(9) Angstrom, b = 7.218(8) Angstrom and
c = 12.167(17) Angstrom for Nd2CaCuO5 and a = 5.872(8) Angstrom, b =
7.457(3) Angstrom and c = 12.682(18) Angstrom for Sm2CaCuO5.
