Abstract
The effect of some environmental ligands and certain fertilizers on th e complexation of strontium with humic acid was investigated colorimet rically and radiometrically. The results indicate that Na-2-EDTA, Ng-c itrate and NaCl compete to complex strontium in solution with the sequ ence: chloride < citrate < EDTA while Na-3-phosphate has the reverse b ehavior. In the case of nitrogen containing fertilizers, the results s how that urea, Mg-ammonium nitrate and ammonium nitrate increase the a vailability of strontium to plants and microorganisms.
