This paper presents a direct torque controller of a synchronous reluct
ance motor (SynRM) based on the stator current vector. The stator dire
ct and quadrature voltages, which can generate the desired torque, are
directly calculated from the machine model, A simple model without th
e core loss and a modified model which includes the core loss are cons
idered in the proposed method, The results show that the fast and high
ly dynamic torque response can be obtained by the proposed method, The
simulation and experimental results are presented to show the validit
y of the proposed method using the prototype SynRM.
