The reaction of [WCl4(PMe2Ph)3] with C6H4(SH)2-1,2 in toluene gives da
rk brown [W(C6H4S2-1,2)2(PMe2Ph)2], which on standing in solution give
s deep green [PHMe2Ph][W(C6H4S2-1,2)3]. The X-ray structure of [PHMe2P
h][W(C6H4S2-1,2)3] shows the tungsten to be coordinated by three (C6H4
S2-1,2)2- ligands with an average W-S distance of 2.386 (6) angstrom i
n a geometry which is halfway between octahedral and trigonal prismati
c.
