Abstract
In the neutropenic host, the impaired inflammatory response diminishes the signs and symptoms of pulmonary infection, making diagnosis diffi cult. A practical approach to diagnosis and treatment in this populati on is to assess the radiographic appearance of infiltrates as localize d (occurring as early, refractory or late phase), or diffuse; this app roach is reviewed here.
