Abstract
Grey (alpha-phase)/white (beta-phase) tin interfaces are investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Most of the phases separated by t he moved alpha/beta interface have the three-dimensional orientation r elationship of [011BAR]alpha \\ [001]beta, (111)alpha \\ (100)beta. Th e observations on the alpha/beta interace indicate that the alpha --> beta transformation in a thin foil of tin is mainly massive in nature and is performed partially by martensitic transformation.
