SAPONINS FROM GLIRICIDIA-SEPIUM

Three new hederagenin-based acetylated saponins isolated from the frui ts of Gliricidia sepium, were identified by chemical and spectroscopic methods as deragenin-3-O-(4-O-acetyl-beta-D-xylopyranosyl)-(1 --> 3)- alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 --> 2)-alpha-L-rabinopysanoside, enin-3-0-( 3,4-di-O-acetyl-beta-D-xylopyranosyl)-(1 --> 3)-alpha-L-rhamnopysanosy l-(1 --> 2)-alpha-L-arabinopyranoside and -3-O-(3,4-di-O-acetyl-alpha- L-arabinopyranosyl)-(1 --> 3)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 --> 2)-alpha- L-arabinopyranoside.
