Abstract
This article presents results of studies on a risetime-based approach of pulse discrimination for signals issued from a proportional counter (low activity C-14 measurements in this case). The applied algorithm leads to an optimal rejection of approx. 70% of the signal generated b y the background with a il 40% rejection of C-14 signals, improving by 35% the results obtained by conventional counting methods.
