Abstract
A few oxomolybdenum(V) and dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes-of schiff bas es derived from 4-aminoantipyrine and salicylaldehyde (AAPySAL), 2-hyd roxy-1-naphthaldehyde (AAPyNAL), furan-2- aldehyde (AAPyFAL), 4-dimeth ylaminobenzaldehyde (AAPyDAB) of the type [(MoOLCl2)-Cl-1], [(MoOLCl2) -Cl-2], (L-1 = AAP/SAL, L-2 = AAPyNAL), [MoOL21 (NCs)CL], [MoOL2 (NCS) CL2], [(MoOLCl3)-Cl-3] (L-3 = AAPyFAL); [MoOL3 (NCS)Cl-2], [MoOL4 (NCS )(2)Cl] (L-4 = AAPyDAB) and [MoO2 L-1 (NCS)Cl], [MoO2 L-3 (NCS)Cl] wer e prepared and characterised by elemental analysis, IR, electronic and ESR spectra, and, magnetic and conductance studies. The X-ray powder pattern of the complex [MoO (AAPySAL)Cl-2] has been examined and found to be orthorhombic with unit cell. dimensions, a=10.21 Angstrom, b=14 .07 Angstrom and c=15.12 Angstrom. The number of molecules per unit ce ll was found to be four.
