Nr. Mcewan et al., EXAMINATION OF THE PIPETTING VARIATION BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS PERFORMINGRANDOM AMPLIFIED POLYMORPHIC DNA (RAPD) ANALYSIS, Journal of microbiological methods, 32(3), 1998, pp. 213-215
The similarity between random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) profile
s generated by nine experimenters is presented. Despite simultaneously
using the same pipetts, the same solutions and the same thermocycler,
no two RAPD profiles generated identical banding patterns. This resul
t suggests that before using a particular primer, it is essential that
all experimenters should obtain a reference profile for their own wor
k, rather than comparing it to one generated by another researcher. (C
