Abstract
A laboratory workcell has been developed for fish cutting. The workcel l, which uses a variety of sensors, actuators, and hardware for compon ent interface and control, operates with the help of a dedicated super visory control system. A layered architecture has been used for the sy stem. It has several knowledge-based modules for carrying out tasks su ch as workcell monitoring, controller tuning, workcell conditioning, a nd product quality assessment. Part I of the paper described the workc ell and the development of the supervisory control system [de Silva, C .W. and Wickramarachchi, N., 1998. Knowledge-Based Supervisory Control System of a Fish Processing Workcell; Part I: System Development. Eng ineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, This Issue]. impleme ntation of the overall system, including a versatile user interface, i s presented here. Also, the performance of the knowledge-based supervi sory system is studied through experiments of fish cutting. (C) 1998 E lsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
