Abstract
By tracing the UV triplet of heteroannular dienes, three novel saikosa ponins were isolated from the root bark of Taverniera aegyptiaca. They were identified as 22 beta-hydroxyolean-11,13(18)-dien-3 beta-yl-beta -D-glucopyranoside, 1 beta,22 beta-dihydroxyolean-11,13(18)-dien-3 bet a-yl-1 beta-D-glucopyranoside and 1 beta,22 beta-dihydroxyolean-11,13( 18)-dien-3 beta-yl-beta-D-xylopyranosyl(1 --> 2)beta-D-glucopyranoside on the basis of chemical and spectral evidences.
