Abstract
A study of the pseudomorphic transformation of the VOHPO4. 0.5H(2)O pr ecursor (P/V=1) to (VO)(2)P2O7 catalyst is reported. Attention is paid to the nucleation and growth stages, which are discussed in connectio n with the concept of topotaxy. The transformation mechanism which acc ounts for the textural change is established using electron microscopy techniques and S-ray diffraction. The morphology change to a prismati c shape at high temperature, approximately 870 degrees C, is also disc ussed. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
