Abstract
The evaluation of the Teaching and Learning Project Scheme at Southamp ton Institute has been undertaken to look at the effectiveness of a sc heme that releases staff for limited periods of time to undertake work that is concerned with teaching and learning. An internal, local eval uation methodology was used which involved questionnaires and structur ed interview. The evaluation also sets the scheme in context and refle cts some of the external influences that affected the operation of the scheme over its three year period. Overall the scheme has had a direc t impact on the teaching and learning at the Institute in part because of the efforts made to disseminate internally the outcomes from the s cheme's programmes. A more independent comment is made by one of the e valuators who had not been previously involved with the Teaching and L earning Project Scheme.
