Abstract
What are some of the innovative human-resource based strategies that m anagement is using to meet the challenges of the knowledge-based econo my? The paper looks at the uptake of organizational innovations and th e 'new' HR management in Canada. It examines the links between such in novations and the bottom line in 'high performance work systems'. Poli cy issues, the role of government, and research needs are addressed.
