Abstract
Eighteen specimens of Portunus hastatus with chromatic characters prev iously undescribed in the literature, have been caught in the same fis hing-area in the course of one year. The characteristics of the crabs and their behaviour were studied in laboratory aquariums. From our dat a, it appears that the number of crabs with the particular colouration on the dactylus of pereiopod V, as described in our paper, is increas ing.
