Abstract
A formal synthesis of (+)-brefeldin A has been achieved via stereosele ctive construction of hydroxycyclopentane skeleton possessing the requ isite hydroxyheptenyl side chain. The highly advanced intermediate 2 h as been synthesized from the known Weinreb amide in 19 % overall yield of 11 steps. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
