Uterine torsion sub partu is a common obstetrical disorder in cows. Be
cause of the unfavourable prognosis for the cab and complications with
the cow this disease is associated with high economic losses. This pa
per reviews experiences with the treatment of the uterine torsion in 6
55 heifers and cows. Advantages and disadvantages of various methods o
f correction the uterine torsion and their influence on the way of the
following delivery and on the prognosis for the cow and the calf are
shown. The general condition of the cow, the degree of twist and the d
egree of cervical dilatation after retorsion are very important clinic
al symptoms influencing the prognosis and the strategy of treatment. I
n addition, current indications for the use of Schaffer's modified rol
ling technique are discussed.
