Abstract
A novel mesh-generation technique based on local mesh modification pro cedures is introduced for the generation of unstructured stretched mes hes for two-dimensional viscous flows. The mesh is constructed by firs t establishing a set of equal-distance contours to a reference curve r epresenting solid boundaries and wake centerlines on an existing mesh and then refining the mesh by the use of local mesh modification proce dures such as diagonal swapping, node movement, side splitting, and si de collapsing. An advancing-front mesh-generation technique is used fo r generating the initial mesh. The various steps involved in the mesh- generation procedure are addressed in the examples. Results generated reveal that the new technique can produce stretched elements in an eff icient and fully automatic manner.
