We report three patients with different renal manifestations of sarcoi
dosis. These cases serve to illustrate different forms of clinical pre
sentation and evolution in this clinicopathological association. One c
ase presented with granulomatous intersticial nephritis and two cases
with secondary glomerulonephritis (focal and segmental glomerulosclero
sis and membranous glomerulonephritis). Treatment with steroids improv
ed the renal function in one case and resulted in a decrease or remiss
ion in proteinuria in the other two. These cases provide further evide
nce that secondary nephropathy associated with sarcoidosis should be t
reated with steroids. We review the possible relationship between glom
erulonephritis and sarcoidosis and speculate on the etiopathogenesis t
hat might link the two.
