Abstract
Using a new constitutive relationship, this paper analyzes the problem of a wedge (or notch) under the compression of a line load at its tip . The asymptotic equations of the strain stress field near a wedge ape x (or a notch corner) are derived and solved numerically. The deformat ion pattern near a wedge tip is completely revealed. An interesting ca se is the half space acted by a line load, for which the analytical so lution is obtained for narrowing sectors. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Lt d. All rights reserved.
