Abstract
A fungus causing necrosis and needle cast has been discovered on fir t rees (Abies alba), in stands at 1700 m above sea level in Yugoslavia. The intensity of infection was very high, and the needles of all age c lasses were infected. The consequence of the Infection is the death of the tree. The pathogen is described as a nem species Tiarosporella du rmitorensis Karadzic. So far, this fungus has been round only in Europ ean silver iir stands in the National Park Durmiror and in the Nationa l Park Biogradska Gora (Montenegro).
