Abstract
The axial resolution in a confocal microscope of high aperture using a single-mode optical fibre for illumination and collection is investig ated. This information, together with results previously published reg arding signal levels, allows the characterization of the instrument an d adjustment of the system parameters to achieve desired imaging prope rties.
