INSERTION DEVICES FOR VSX RING

A new low emittance storage ring for VUV and soft X-ray brilliant ligh t source is planned for construction in the Kashiwa Campus of the Univ ersity of Tokyo. This ring has long straight sections as well as stand ard insertion device straight sections. Multiple insertion devices of various kinds can provide a wide range of photon energy spectra. By in stalling a 10 m long insertion device into a long straight section, fo r example, one can obtain a brilliance exceeding 10(20) phs s(-1) mrad (-2) mm(-2) 0.1% b.w.(-1) We can use higher harmonics of undulator rad iation having both linear and circular polarization properties.
