Abstract
The evidence of the modification of the surface structure of the AISI- 304 stainless steel during the implantation of lanthanum makes the ana lysis of the sputtered elements very interesting. Those sputtered elem ents are deposited on a carbon sheet placed in front of the steel bein g implanted, and studied by means of RES and PIXE, together with the i mplanted specimens. Besides, the protective effect of the implanted io ns during the high temperature oxidation is also studied by those tech niques together with XRD and thermogravimetric methods.
