Abstract
To extend the applications with our U-120 Cyclotron we started a proje ct of off-line and on-line positron sources produced at the cyclotron. A study is in progress to produce V-48 and Si-27 positron sources wit h proton beams of 14 MeV and intensities up to 100 mu A (internal targ et) and up to 30 mu A (external target). Using a V-48 positron source we performed experiments for determination of the Doppler broadening o f the 511 keV peak for different materials (copper. lead, indium). The aim of this project is to obtain a controlled energy positron beam fa cility based on a cyclotron, for performing applications in the semico nductor industry, for coating materials, etc. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scienc e B.V.
