Abstract
The crystallization of MnCl2 in tetrahydrofuran results in the formati on of polymeric [MnCl2(THF)(1.6)] (1) with an unexpected structure. Th is species represents the first crystallographically defined example o f tetranuclear [Mn-4(mu(3)-Cl)(2)(mu(2)-Cl)(4)Cl-2(THF)(6)] units link ed by MnCl2(THF)(2) moieties. Our observations highlight the importanc e of the M4X6 core present in 1 as a component of cl-olefin polymeriza tion catalysts.
