Abstract
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is largely responsible for standardizing Internet protocols. This article describes IETF's stand ardization work as well as a wide range of related activities outside the scope of technological development. The aim is to provide a compas s for tracking the trends in rapidly changing Internet technologies.
