An analytical treatment is presented for scroll waves in the complex G
inzburg-Landau equation in the limit of small filament curvature, tors
ion, and phase twist. Explicit expressions for the filament velocity a
nd frequency shift are found. The theoretical results are verified num
erically in the case of circular untwisted scroll rings and for straig
ht and sinusoidal scroll filaments with phase twist. (C) 1998 Publishe
