Polycrystalline thin film heterojunction solar cells with the configur
ation glass/Sb:TO/n-CdS/p-SnS/Ag were fabricated using vacuum evaporat
ed CdS as window and sprayed SnS films as an absorber layer. The physi
cal properties of the individual layers were discussed. The photovolta
ic properties of the device were evaluated by studying the illuminated
current-voltage characteristics and with the help of spectral respons
e measurements. The cells showed a maximum conversion efficiency of ab
out 0.7 % with an average spectral response of 65 %.
