Abstract
Two homologous series: (S) 4-(1-methylheptyloxy-carbonyl)phenyl '-(3-a lkanoyloxyprop-1-oxy)biphenyl-4-carboxylates and luoroalkanoyloxyprop- 1-oxy)biphenyl-4-carboxylaces were synthesized and their smectic phase s and phase transitions were investigated using polarizing microscopy, DSC calorimetry and miscibility methods. Mixtures with a broad temper ature range of the antiferroelectic smectic C-A phase and phase seque nce C-A-A-I or C-A*-CI-A-I were formulated.
