SYNTHESIS, GROWTH AND CHARACTERIZATION OF TETRAGONAL ABCO(4) CRYSTALS

Preparation, crystal growth, morphology and characterization of tetrag onal ABCO(4) compounds are serveyed. After a brief description of the properties of the compounds, the role of the preparation and synthesis of initial compounds and the composition of melt for crystal growth i s discussed. Then the observations of facets on the crystals obtained by Czochralski method, and the origin of the change in the color of th e crystals are reviewed. Finally, it is pointed out that single crysta ls of SrLaGaO4 and SrPrGaO4 are attractive as substrate for the high-t emperature superconductors and SrLaGaO4 for GaN thin films.
