K. Werner et al., SOLUTION BEHAVIOR OF HYDROPHOBICALLY-MODIFIED HYDROLYZED ALTERNATING COPOLYMERS OF MALEIC-ANHYDRIDE AND PROPENE, European Polymer Journal, 34(3-4), 1998, pp. 327-333
Hydrophobically modified polymers based on the alternating copolymer o
f maleic anhydride and propene were prepared by a polymer analogous re
action of the anhydride copolymer with amino-terminated polystyrenes.
The aqueous solution behaviour of polymers with different degrees of g
rafting was investigated by potentiometric and conductometric titratio
ns, by viscometry and by H-1-NMR spectroscopy. The two apparent dissoc
iation constants and the solution conductivity are lower than those of
the non-grafted copolymer. This study indicates the formation of over
-molecular structures. CMCs determined by viscometry are lower than th
ose of simple tensides. The influence of the degree of grafting on the
solution behaviour was studied additionally by 1H-NMR spectroscopy. (
