Abstract
The thermal decomposition of ethylbenzene solutions of n-butyllithium and polystyryllithium was observed between 50 and 100 degrees C by gas chromatography and UV spectroscopy, respectively. The initiator shows poor stability but the polymerisation can lead to controlled molecula r weights of living polymers by using a high concentration of monomer (about 50% by weight).
