Reverse saturable absorption of a novel molybdenum complex of fulleren
e (eta(2)-C-60) Mo(CO)(2)(o-phen)(DBM) . 2C(6)H(6 .) C5H12 has been in
vestigated under irradiation of 10 ns laser pulses at 532 nm. An enhan
cement of the optical limiting behavior was observed in comparison wit
h C-60. An explanation based on the enhanced triplet-stare absorption
caused by the intra-molecular charge transfer was predicted. The relat
ionship between the clamped laser fluence and low-intensity transmissi
vity, or the concentration of the solution, was also investigated and
a linear dependence was revealed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All r
