We report an absolute frequency measurement of the E-line of CH4 at 88
THz interrogated by a Zeeman-tuned 3.39 mu m He-Ne laser using a phas
e-coherent frequency measurement chain linking to a Cs-clock. We find
a value of v(E) = 88 373 149 028 553 +/- 200 Hz increasing the accurac
y of the optical frequency of this reference substantially over previo
