S. Kapuria et al., ASSESSMENT OF SHELL THEORIES FOR HYBRID PIEZOELECTRIC CYLINDRICAL-SHELL UNDER THERMOELECTRIC LOAD, Journal of thermal stresses, 21(5), 1998, pp. 519-544
This study presents an assessment of classical lamination shell theory
and first-order shear deformation theory for a simply supported finit
e circular cylindrical hybrid shell with a cross-ply laminate as an el
astic substrate under thermoelectric static load. Navier-type solution
s for these shell theories are obtained and used in three-dimensional
(3D) equilibrium equations and transverse strain-displacement relation
s to obtain transverse stress components and an improved value of defl
ection. These solutions are assessed by comparison with the 3D solutio
n.
