Bs. Paliwal, FELSIC VOLCANICS INTERLAYERED WITH SEDIMENTS OF THE MARWAR-SUPERGROUPAT CHHOTI-KHATU, DISTRICT NAGAUR, RAJASTHAN, Journal of the Geological Society of India, 52(1), 1998, pp. 81-86
A thick pile of undeformed and unmetamorphosed sediments exposed to th
e west of the Aravalli mountain range in Rajasthan, earlier known as t
he Trans-Aravalli Vindhyans and rater renamed as the Marwar Supergroup
, are considered to rest unconformably over the Malani Igneous Suite o
f rocks. Felsic volcanics have been observed around Chhoti Khatu, in N
agaur district for the first time interlayered with sediments of the M
arwar Supergroup. They occur sandwiched between the underlying Sonia F
ormation and the overlying Girbhakar Formation of the Jodhpur Group (t
he Marwar Supergroup). This interesting relationship may help in decid
ing the age of the Marwar Supergroup.
