.A simple robust self-seeded laser diode scheme for generating electri
cal wavelength-tunable picosecond pulses at a FY;ed repetition rate is
presented. Wavelength tuning of transform-limited pulses with a pulse
width of similar to 10ps and a sidemode suppression ratio of 15dB over
all, and 28dB at best, was obtained among six cavity modes correspondi
ng to a tuning range of 7.6nm. Very stable operation was observed at e
ach wavelength because there was a relatively large locking range for
each wavelength.
