We compared a fast fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) pulse s
equence with a dual-echo short tau fast inversion-recovery (DESTTIR) s
equence in 20 children with white matter abnormalities. Although the o
verall image quality of DESTTIR images was better, the lesion-to-backg
round contrast was significantly higher with the fast FLAIR pulse sequ
ence and lesion detection was more accurate.
