Abstract
The study reported in this paper deals with the development of a four- wheel model for evaluating the tyre forces and dynamic condition of a vehicle up to the threshold of skidding or rollover. The vehicle is tr eated as a rigid body supported by springs at the position of each whe el. The Linear Programming algorithm is employed to evaluate the dynam ic behaviour of the vehicle and the normal forces on the tyres under d ifferent road and operating conditions. The model can also be used to evaluate the longitudinal and lateral tyre forces necessary for ensuri ng the stability of the vehicle with a four-wheel steering and braking system.
