MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF POLYCARBONATE OPTICAL FIBERS

This article presents experimental results for mechanical and optomech anical tests under different environmental conditions on polycarbonate optical fibers. These fibers are used in optical fiber sensors and da ta transmission applications with operation temperatures up to 125 deg rees C. As shown in the article fiber properties are not sensitive to moisture cycles or low temperatures (-40 degrees C), but they are sign ificantly affected by temperatures over 85 degrees C.
