We present a detailed study of surface phonon spectrum on the ZnSe(110
) surface using the adiabatic bond-charge model within a repeated slab
scheme. The structural and electronic information necessary for these
calculations is taken from a self-consistent pseudopotential calculat
ion. In particular, we find that the surface dynamics of ZnSe(110) are
characterised by the presence of a rotational mode at the zone centre
, three acoustic modes at a zone edge, and the Fuchs-Kliewer mode at t
he zone centre, similar to what is found for III-V(110) in general and
GaAs(110) in particular. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights re
